The total number of detected coronavirus cases in Uzbekistan reached 1,678, the Ministry of Health said. In total, 51 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Tuesday, which is less than the day before (62).

The special commission is getting ready for various possible evolvements of the coronavirus situation, said the expert of the anti-coronavirus headquarters at the Ministry of Health Khabibulla Okilov at a briefing at Information and Mass Communications Agency.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the European Council Charles Michel, the presidential press service said.

Uzbekistan delivered two batches of humanitarian aid to Russia, the Uzbek embassy to Moscow said in a statement. The first shipment was delivered to the Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport on Saturday, the second – today on April 20. In total, it is planned to send to Russia 5 million medical masks, as well as medical gauze.

At the videoconference meeting on April 20, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the Special Republican Commission to Combat Coronavirus to gradually ease lockdown measures in provinces, districts and cities where no cases of coronavirus were detected or the epidemiological situation has improved, the presidential press service said.

The total number of confirmed coronavirus infection cases in Uzbekistan at 23:30 on April 20 has reached 1,627, the Ministry of Health said. During Monday, 62 new cases of coronavirus were reported (75 a day earlier), with 261 patients recovered and 5 people dead.
