Tashkent and Doha are preparing for the upcoming visit of the Qatari leader to Uzbekistan. On May 8-9 of this year, the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Qudratov was in Qatar on a visit and held talks with chiefs of Qatari ministries and departments and major companies.
At the meetings the parties discussed current state of investment and industrial cooperation and the ways to further advance them, as well as other issues of interest to the parties.
The parties discussed prospects for development of trade-economic and investment ties with the Minister of Trade and Industry Mohammed al Thani. The Qatari minister highly appreciated the potential of bilateral cooperation and expressed confidence that the upcoming visit of the Qatari leader to Uzbekistan would give a strong impetus to the deepening of multifaceted partnership and would open a new page in the development of bilateral ties.
They agreed to develop a joint action plan for boosting the two-way trade and a joint program for the development of industrial cooperation, covering investment projects in energy, petrochemical, chemical, agricultural, food industry, tourism, IT and other sectors and agreed measures for the prevention of double taxation, preparation for the signing of agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments. Business forum will be organized in Tashkent with the joint efforts of the parties with the participation of large businesses of the two countries.
During the conversation with the Minister of Finance, Ali al Kuwari, the parties agreed to take measures on the joint financing of a number of infrastructural projects and to establish direct cooperation between the commercial banks of Qatar and Uzbekistan with the governor of the Central Bank/Chairman of the Qatar Investment Agency Abdullah al-Thani.
The Minister of Energy and the Chairman of Qatar Energy Company Saad Al-Kaabi discussed the implementation of joint energy projects with Nebras Power Company.
During the meeting with the chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa al-Thani, an agreement was reached on setting up of a joint business council.
During the talks with the CEOs of Qatar National Cement, Baladna, Qatari Diar, Fitco Detergents, and Katara Hospitality companies, the parties discussed prospects for the implementation of large-scale projects related to the production of building materials, household chemical products, animal husbandry, hotels, trade-entertainment and residential complexes.
