Footage surfaced on social media showing a man dressed as a police officer  beating several times a man lying on a bed with his hands and feet tied in a sobering-up station.

The Surkhandarya province police department commented on the incident. The comment says that on May 7, at about 1:10 am, a woman called the Muzrabad district police department and said that a starnger was knocking at her house.

A police officer who arrived at the scene found a drunk man, U.P., who resisted the demands of the officer. The man was taken to an inter-district point for providing medical assistance to persons in a state of intoxication.

The footage without sound shows that the man lies on his stomach and shouts something. A police officer approaches him, they are talking about something. The officer hits first with his palm, and then with his fist in the face of the man and presses his head to the pillow. The man continues to say something.

The police strokes his head, takes out his phone and starts filming him. He then leaves the room, returns and continues filming. The man says something again. The employee leaves again. He comes back, they again say something to each other. The employee again hits the man in the face with his palm. Then he brings a handkerchief and ties it up.

The report from the provincial police department said that the man disturbed the peace of other patients in the hospital and "continued to insult the officer," who took "harsh actions" to calm U.P.

An official probe has been launched against the police officer, it is being carried out by the provincial police department, the report says.

The report from the Prosecutor's Office of Surkhandarya states that the man who had been knocking on the complainant’s door at night had fled upon the arrival of the local inspector. The inspector found him and took him to the medical association.
