President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday received the Deputy PM of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin who arrived in Uzbekistan on the instruction of the President Vladimir Putin.

A Russian delegation led by Deputy PM Dmitry Rogozin today arrived in Tashkent, the Uzbek  Foreign Ministry said. The reported purpose of the visit is to discuss the state and prospects for advancing bilateral cooperation and preparations for the upcoming visit of the Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev, who will visit Uzbekistan on November 2-3 to attend the meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

The Uzbek government during President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s first year in office has taken some positive steps to improve the human rights situation, but should now transform them into institutional change and sustainable improvements, Human Rights Watch said today.
