On March 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Chinaz district of Tashkent province to get familiar with the work in the water resources sector, the presidential press service said.
At the end of February, the President approved a three-year strategy for water resources management and irrigation sector development, which provides for the expansion and state stimulation of the introduction of water-saving technologies. It is also planned to draw foreign investment in this area.
“One of the outcomes of this work was the sown area in the village of Yangiabad, Chinaz district. Here, due to the drawing of US$ 1.35 million, 850 hectares of land were improved. Three reservoirs with a total capacity of 202,000 cubic meters have been built, drip irrigation has been introduced,” the press service said.
Andijan-72 cotton variety will be sown on 702 hectares of virgin lands in double rows under film. Melons for export will grow on 148 hectares. Part of this land will be provided to unemployed youth.
“Before planting, you need to think about how to sell later. The land must be given to the businesses. Because he knows the market, knows the competition,” said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
