An informal summit of Turkic-speaking countries will be held in Kazakhstan in late March. The council members are Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, with Hungary having an observer status.

An informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States will be held on March 31 in Turkestan, Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry said.

"On March 31, an informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States will be held in Turkestan on the initiative of Kazakhstan's first president Nursultan Nazarbayev.

A declaration will be reportedly signed at the end of the summit to declare Turkestan as the spiritual capital of the Turkic world.

The Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States was established on October 3, 2009.
