President Shavkat Mirziyoyev may visit Azerbaijan on an official visit this spring, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Uzbekistan Huseyn Guliyev said on Tuesday at the Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan business forum. 

Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Aydarbek Tulepov has been dismissed, a source in the government said. Aidarbek Tulepov who had served as the deputy head of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan, since February 2006 has been reportedly dismissed “at his own request”. While, the chairman (mufti) Usmonkhon Alimov and his deputy Azizjon Mansurov (Abdulaziz Mansur) are keeping their posts. According to some reports Aidarbek Tulepov has been assigned by security services to oversee the religious affairs.

Old mosques that require reconstruction will be repaired in 2018-2019, Norma.uz said referring to the Feb 15 decision of the Cabinet of Ministers on "organization of works aimed at improvement of places of worship, pilgrimage, mosques and cemeteries."

Yet another audio recording was leaked to Youtube of the meeting in Bukhara chaired by the President Mirziyoyev in which he again criticized the local National Security officers:  

Azim Ahmedkhadjayev, who headed the Committee for Investments since March 2017, has been appointed the Minister for IT and Communications Development (MITCD), a source in the government said.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed Measures to Further Improve Information Technologies and Communications Sphere Decree which instructed the development of proposals within three months to reform Uzbekistan Post, the national postal service company with the assistance of foreign consultants and based on international best practices.

Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov today hosted the newly appointed Ambassador of Norway stationed in Oslo, Ole Johan Bjørnøy, the ministry reported.

The Committee for Sports has been reorganized into the Ministry of Sports, a source in the government said. Rustam Kurbanov, who was in charge of the Sports Committee from February 2017, left the post, as did his first deputy Iskander Juraev.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on February 13 signed an Organizational Measures to Radically Improve Tax Legislation Decree.

The Uzbek Ministry of Agriculture and Water Resources has been split into the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water Resources, the ministry said.
