Turboatom may take part in the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan. The Ukrainian firm’s possibleparticipation in the Uzbekistan nuclear project was discussed during a meeting on February 11 between the governor of Kharkiv province, Alexey Kucher and the official of the Uzbekistan Embassy in Ukraine Bakhodir Ibragimov, KharkivTimes said.
Alexey Kucher said that nuclear plant construction project in Uzbekistan’s estimated at US$ 1 billion, and the duration of its implementation is from 7 to 10 years.
The DG of Turboatom, who was present at the meeting, presented Turboatom’s production capabilities. He emphasized that 20 Turboatom million-plus units operate without shutdowns around the world.
Bahodir Ibragimov noted that Ukraine has extendive experience and developments in the energy sector.
“It is obvious that Ukrainian turbines are cheaper than Japanese ones, and financial support from the IAEA and the EU will make them even more competitive,” the publication noted.
