It is planned to move the Tashkent International Airport 30-35 km away from the city. “Currently, Tashkent International Airport is located in the heart of the city. In the future, it may be moved towards Angren or Chinoz, 30-35 kilometers away from the city, ”said Ravshan Ismailov, head of Uzbekistan Airport company.
He added that in the next 2 years, the Tashkent airport’s throughput capacity will be upped from 4.5 million to 7 million passengers.
“When it will be connected with the new Tashkent Eastern Airport, the throughput is expected to be increased up to 10 million. That is why we are considering the construction of a new modern airport with 50 million passenger-a-year capacity. We will build such an airport outside of Tashkent after 10 years, according to our plans," he said.
