The Special Rapporteur of the UN Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Religion or Belief, Ahmed Shaheed may visit Uzbekistan again in early 2020, the Foreign Ministry said.

The Chinese President, Xi Jinping will visit Uzbekistan next year. This became known following the talks between the governments delegations of the two countries in Tashkent on the margins of the SCO Heads of Governments Council meeting.

In 2020, over 1 trillion soums, or US$ 108.2 million is planned to be contributed for science from the state budget, which is by US$ 287 billion soums (US$ 30.2 million)more than in 2019. This was stipulated in the draft 2020 Citizens Budget.

The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan. Nikolai Patrushev will visit Tashkent on October 31 and attend the consultations between the security councils offices.

On October 29, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Science and Scientific Activities Bill into Law. The document was passed by the Legislative Chamber on July 22 and was approved by the Senate on October 11.

The deputy mayor of the Kashkadarya’s Shakhrisabz district and an employee of the mayor’s office were caught taking US$ 100 in a bribe from a businessman on Tuesday, the Prosecutor General’s Office said.
