Uzbekistan and Russia are preparing a solid program for the upcoming state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation, said the Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“We are preparing the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Russia, we are working on such a solid package of documents for signing. We are also preparing a rich program," Mishustin said at a meeting with the Uzbek PM Abdulla Aripov.
An important stage in the preparation of the state visit, according to the Russian PM, will be the second meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of government of the Russian Federation and Uzbekistan.
“Unfortunately, due to sanitary and epidemiological restrictions, our event has been postponed to March-April ... Russian and Uzbek departments are working closely to ensure that all this happens,” he added.
He expressed hope that concrete dates will be determined in the near future.
Earlier, the preparations for the upcoming visit of the Uzbek leader to Russia were discussed by the Uzbek Ambassador Botirjon Asadov and the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko.
The state visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia was scheduled for 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
