Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations with San Marino - one of the smallest states in the world (61 sq. Km), Dunyo reported.
The protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations was signed in Rome on February 3 by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Italy Otabek Akbarov, and from San Marino - the Ambassador of the country to Italy Daniela Rotondaro. The document will take effect after the completion of domestic procedures in the two countries.
The Ambassador of San Marino said that the country is ready to elaborate and sign bilateral agreements on mutual protection and promotion of investments, avoidance of double taxation and noted that San Marino, which has close ties with the European Union, can provide Uzbek companies and exporters with opportunities to enter European markets.
Tourism can become one of the areas of cooperation. San Marino, which welcomes more than 3 million tourists annually, is ready to share knowledge and experience in this area, the Ambassador said.
