On February 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Afghanistan delegation inclufding the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Hanif Atmar, and Chief of Staff to President Ghani, Muhammad Shakir Korgar, the presidential press service said.

The parties reportedly discussed the ways to further expand multifaceted cooperation.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stressed the importance of maintaining the current pace of bilateral relations and the implementation of previously reached agreements, which include facilitating the increase of two-way trade up to least US$2 billion in the coming years, to strengthen cooperation in industry, energy, agriculture and logistics, implementing important programs in the spheres of health, education and culture.

The members of the Afghan delegation thanked the President of Uzbekistan for the warm welcome and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the President of Afghanistan, Ashraf Ghani.

The Afghan official expressed gratitude for Uzbekistan’s resolute efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development in Afghanistan.
