On February 2, Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the adviser to the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Abdul Razak Dawood, the presidential press service reported.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for advancing mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted, despite the pandemic, active contacts and exchanges are continuing, which contributie, first of all, to the progressive expansion of practical interaction between the two countries. The volume of two-way trade is growing, the number of joint cooperation projects of leading companies is increasing.

“Abdul Razak Dawood expressed his sincere gratitude to Shavkat Mirziyoyev for organizing the meeting and conveyed greetings and best wishes on behalf of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan. The adviser stressed that Pakistan highly appreciates and supports the initiative to advance the project to build a railway through the territory of Afghanistan, which will connect Central and South Asia by the shortest route, will allow to effectively use the infrastructure of Pakistani seaports,” the statement added.

Other topical issues of the joint economic agenda were also considered.

Agreements were reached on considering opportunities for the development of road and air freight, preparing an agreement on preferential trade, exchanging experience in the field of customs, enhancing business dialogue and holding business events.

A schedule of upcoming meetings and contacts at the highest and high levels has been agreed.
