Two Uzbek nationals were killed and three others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a traffic accident in Russia’s Republic of Mordovia, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan said.
The collision occurred on August 6 near the village of Blokhino in the Lyambirsky District, at the 180-kilometer mark of the M-5 Ural highway. A Chevrolet Spark bearing Uzbek license plates collided with a MAZ cargo truck.
Two individuals, identified as A.A.P.,30, and B.Sh.A., 29, died at the scene. Three other passengers - A.R.P., 24, B.M.A., 37, and A.M.P., 20 - were hospitalized with various injuries at the Mordovia Central Clinical Hospital.
The Consulate General stated that it is monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with local authorities. Once forensic examinations and necessary legal procedures are complete, Uzbekistan's Migration Agency will handle the repatriation of the victims' remains. Medical officials confirmed that the injured passengers have received all necessary treatment and have already been discharged from the hospital.
The Consulate General in Kazan extended its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the survivors a swift recovery.
This incident follows a similar tragedy in mid-February, when four Uzbek nationals from the Kattaqurghan district of Samarkand were killed in a fatal car crash in the Shimanovsky District of Russia’s Amur province.
