President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has been briefed on the recent outcomes and future priorities for developing Uzbekistan's AI ecosystem, according to the presidential press service.
Uzbekistan has climbed 25 positions to rank 62nd globally in the international AI Readiness Index. The government aims to break into the top 50 global leaders by 2030. Other benchmarks include driving the volume of AI-driven software products and services to $1.5 billion, expanding infrastructure, and deploying over 200 new AI initiatives.
As part of this digital push, a supercomputer powered by NVIDIA technology was launched last month at the Digital Government data center. Its computing power ranks 321st worldwide, with cluster utilization hitting 90% in its first month of operations.
Uzbekistan’s current computing infrastructure is valued at $24 million. Officials have proposed allocating an additional $70 million to scale up the existing cluster, while negotiations are underway with foreign investors to establish new data centers in Karakalpakstan. President Mirziyoyev directed officials to aggressively expand computing capacities, deploy industry-specific AI solutions, refine data architecture, support youth-led startups, and broaden international partnerships.
In tandem with these infrastructure goals, provincial governors, district, and city mayors across Uzbekistan have officially begun appointing dedicated AI advisors. Out of 500 applicants who entered the selection process, 222 advisors were successfully appointed. The president emphasized the importance of recruiting young professionals with foreign degrees and advanced command of modern technologies for these roles.
