The Uzbekistan Journalists' Union has announced the launch of its Bloggers Creative Council during an event held on Friday.
Shukhratjon Oripov, Chairman of the Journalists' Union, emphasized that digital creators now play an active role alongside traditional media in shaping public opinion and rapidly disseminating information. He noted that the council aims to unite independent commentators, foster an open dialogue between content creators and government or public institutions, and elevate professional standards across the digital landscape.
A core mission of the newly formed group will be defending the interests of its members. Specifically, the council will provide legal counsel and guidance to bloggers facing data access restrictions, institutional pressure, or direct threats.
Eldar Asanov, a linguist, journalist, and prominent blogger, was elected to chair the new body.
Moving forward, the council plans to host a series of workshops, seminars, and training courses. These programs will focus on media literacy, legal and ethical standards, and digital security. Officials from the Journalists' Union described the initiative as a decisive step toward promoting responsible media consumption, supporting the professional growth of digital journalists, and establishing a space for constructive dialogue.
