Yesterday, the delegation of the U.S. House of Representatives led by Congressman Trent Kelly held meetings with high-ranking Uzbek officials, in particular was hosted by Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The sides reportedly discussed the state and prospects for advancing inter-parliamentary relations and providing legislative support to positive trends in bilateral ties.
The congressmen were briefed on top priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy formulated in the National statement by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly in New York and in the opening remark at November regional security conference in Samarkand.
The congressmen also met with first deputy chairman of the Uzbek Senate, Sadyk Safoyev, who underscored that Uzbekistan highly values the existing level of bilateral relations and attaches great importance to the further strengthening of friendly ties with the United States on the whole range of issues, including inter-parliamentary ties.
The sides reportedly exchanged views on the state and prospects for further deepening of bilateral inter-parliamentary ties, as well as trade, economic and investment cooperation, and expressed hope that the visit of the U.S. congressmen will play a role in expanding inter-parliamentary relations and will give an impetus to deepening the interaction between the legislative bodies of the two countries.
