President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday hosted the visiting member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and the head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, Yang Jiechi, the presidential press service said.

Suma Chakrabarti, the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), will pay an official visit to Uzbekistan on March 4-5, the bank’s Tashkent office said.

The Ministry of Transport of Uzbekistan has notified the aviation authorities and companies of Afghanistan, Iran and Italy about the temporary suspension of flights with these states from March 1. According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, such a decision was made in order to prevent the penetration and spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Uzbekistan.

A local government meeting was held today in Alat district of Bukhara province. At this meeting, Nargiza Nematova (female) was appointed as the new mayor of Olot district.

Timur Ishmetov was appointed Minister of Finance replacing Jamshid Kuchkarov, a source in the government told the Tashkent Times. The appointment took place at a government meeting chaired by the PM Abdulla Aripov.
