Kongratbay Sharipov was named by presidential decree to the position of Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
Previously, the candidacy of Kongratbai Sharipov was approved by MPs of the Legislative Chamber.
Born in 1963 in Karakalpakstan, Kongratbay Sharipov, 60, graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIIMSA).
From 1986 to 1987 he worked as a mechanic at the Kungrad cotton state farm in Karakalpakstan. In 1988, he worked as a teacher at the Moscow Institute of Agricultural Engineers, and from 1989 to 1992 he studied full-time graduate school.
Since 1992, Candidate of Technical Sciences, he was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences on March 22, 2005. In 1995, he received the academic title of Associate Professor of the Department of Tractors and Automobiles.
From July 2009 to September 2010, he was the rector of the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent, then, from October 2010, he worked as the first vice-rector for finance and economics of the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent. From August 2017 to 2019, he again headed the Turin Polytechnic University in Tashkent.
In 2019, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Higher and Secondary Special Education. Since November 2019, he has been working as the rector of the Tashkent State Economic University.
