A three-day regional training for trainers will start in Tashkent on 14 November 2017 aimed at document security during crossing the border. Taking into account the significant number of people moving within the Central Asia borders and crossing the region in transit, the EU is continuing to offer significant support to border security activities in Central Asia.

The Interior of Uzbekistan Major-General Pulat Bobojonov held a working meeting with his Russian counterpart General of Police Vladimir Kolokoltsev in Moscow.

Samarkand yesterday hosted the regular meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union - Central Asia format took place in Forumlar Majmuasi palace.

The Central Asia is a region of unique opportunities and huge untapped potential, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in his opening remarks at "Central Asia: Shared Past and Common Future, Cooperation for Sustainable Development and Mutual Prosperity conference, held in Samarkand under the auspices of the UN.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday hosted the visiting OSCE Secretary-General Thomas Greminger, UzA said. Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulated Ambassador Thomas Greminger. on his appointment as Secretary General, highlighted Uzbekistan's interest in more active interaction with the OSCE, achieving mutual understanding on all matters under the OSCE’s mandate.

The visit of the OSCE Secretary General and his participation in the regional security conference in Samarkand is regarded as confirmation of the interest of the Organization towards the ongoing fundamental reforms in all araeas in Uzbekistan, including democratization, ensuring human rights, freedoms and interests, improving investment climate, and other key areas, the statement added.

Thomas Greminger highly commended Uzbekistan’s consistent and constructive steps towards strengthening ties with neighboring countries, including with Afghanistan. The distinguished guest expressed his confidence that the outcomes of the upcoming Samarkand conference, unprecedented in terms of the number of participants and representation, will make it possible to open new page of regional cooperation, strengthen mutual understanding and trust in this strategically important region.

The guest especially noted that the priority areas of Uzbekistan’s Five-Year Development Strategy are fully in line with the goals and priorities of the OSCE: security, economic-environmental and human dimensions.

The Secretary General reasserted OSCE is ready to support and readiness in Uzbekistan for long-term cooperation, exchange of experience and technical assistance for implementation of reforms.

The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, is expected to hold talks with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on Thursday during her official visit to Uzbekistan, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev yesterday signed Measures for Improvement of Pharmaceutical Industry Management System Decree creating the Agency for Development of Pharmaceutical Industry under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan. The state-run joint-stock UzPharmSanoat group of companies has been liquidated.

First Deputy Chairman of the Uzbek Senate and Uzbekistan’s Governor at the EBRD Sodiq Safoev met with the EBRD First Vice President Philip Bennett.

Orhan Sivrikaya has joined Uzbekistan Airways as strategic business development advisor, the company said in a statement. The issue of engaging a Turkish advisor was arranged during Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s Turkey state visit in October.

The October 18 Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan Resolution has approved a single system for collection, surrender and processing of non-ferrous metal scrap in the country.

Uzbekistan plans to step-by-step introduce a self-financed private notaries system. The process of transformation of public notary offices into private will be launched on January 1, 2018. The relevant draft president’s decree, developed by the Ministry of Justice, was published for public consultation.
