Draft new edition of the Customs Code, prepared by by the Customs Committee, has been published for public discussion. The document consists of 9 sections, 35 chapters and 296 articles, with the discussion to last through September 1.
The draft has proposed to introduce the concepts of “customs duty”, “customs declaration”, “tariff regulation measures”, “transport documents” and others into the new code. The principles of customs legislation determine the legality, equality of persons when moving goods across the customs border, transparency, clarity and sequence of customs operations.
The drafting of the new Customs Code was provided for by a decree of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on reforming the customs service. It was originally planned to develop a new version until November last year.
