The president approved the Treaty on Comprehensive Partnership in the Field of Migration and Mobility between the Governments of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany.
The Treaty was signed in Samarkand on September 15, 2024 during the visit of the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
For the implementation of the Treaty, the Migration Agency was designated as the authorized body responsible for external labor migration, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs for readmission.
The Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of relevant ministries and departments will ensure the oversight over the implementation of this Treaty in accordance with the established procedure after it takes effect.
The Treaty includes 25 articles and provides for the promotion of mobility of skilled workers, including students and persons undergoing professional training, as well as journalists and scientists seeking to work in the territory of the two countries.
In addition, the Treaty aims to encourage and facilitate temporary migration for work, and to encourage long-term stays in the country for the purpose of work, vocational training and advanced training.
The parties will also cooperate in preventing and combating illegal migration and smuggling of migrants, as well as in combating labor exploitation, forced labor and human trafficking, and protecting victims.
In addition, the Treaty provides for the simplification of the return of individuals who do not meet the conditions for residence or entry into the territory of the two countries.
