Syrdarya province governor Akmaljon Makhmudaliev, who had been in charge of the province since the end of 2022, was fired. The sacking was announced by the president at the government meeting on investment today. Sherzod Asadov, the spokesman to the president said.
At the meeting, the president pointed to the poor performance by a number of district mayors in charge of investment and exports was noted.
The president added that in 2023, in eight districts of the country - Beruniy, Karauzyak, Kungrad, Peshkun, Yangiabad, Kamashi, Khanka, Shavat districts - the volume of attracted investments did not exceed 15 million dollars. Export figures have decreased in Ramitan, Dekhkanabad, Mirishkor, Chirakchi, Narpay, Nurabad, Gulistan districts, as well as in the city of Akhangaran. The mayors of these 16 districts and the city were reprimanded.
