Uzbekistan’s draft state program for 2025, which has been posted for public input, includes items on further extending the rights of the opposition in parliament.
The items imply that an opposition rights bill will be developed in parliament studying the experience of foreign countries.
The proposal also stipulate:
- increasing the number of rights of the opposition from 3 to 6;
- ensuring that opposition representatives hold 1 committee chairman and 2 deputy committee chairmen roles;
- the rights to initiate at least one issue every quarter as par of the government hour and parliamentary inquiry.
The bill shall also aim at strengthening the cooperation of the parliament committees with the executive authorities will be developed and adopted.
The bill shall:
- assign ministries and departments to the relevant committees of the Legislative Chamber, based on the areas of activity of each committee;
- make deputy heads of ministries and departments in charge for constant cooperation with the committees of the Legislative Chamber.
