President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the former UK’s Prime Minister and Chairman of the Institute for Global Change, Tony Blair, the presidential press service said. The parties discussed the ways to develop cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Institute.

Reportedly, Tony Blair highly commended the progress and scale of reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed his readiness to provide the necessary expert and advisory assistance in their further promotion.

Other key areas of cooperation included activities aimed at attracting large strategic investors to economic sectors, technological modernization, accelerating digitalization and the introduction of artificial intelligence, and implementing joint programs and projects in priority areas.

The international non-profit organization, created by Tony Blair in 2016, assists various countries in developing new models of sustainable and innovative growth, combating climate change and other modern challenges.

The president’s spokesman Sherzod Asadov said that Uzbekistan had been systematically working with the institute for some time now: "This is the third meeting of our president with Tony Blair. The previous two contacts were within the framework of the COP summits in Dubai (2023) and Baku (2024)."

The Institute's partner on the part of Uzbekistan is the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President.

The main goal of cooperation is deep and comprehensive expert support in the formation of public policy priorities, with a special emphasis on such areas as innovative development of Uzbekistan, new growth models, digitalization, artificial intelligence and green economy, Sherzod Asadov said.
