The Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov met with the US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and the US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz on Monday.

The parties focused on strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic and investment cooperation, developing regional ties, and deepening our common vision for ensuring security and stability in Central Asia.

“Great pleasure to meet with U.S. Secretary of State H.E. Marco Rubio for a comprehensive exchange on the current dynamics and future direction of Uzbekistan–U.S. Strategic Partnership. We covered a broad range of key areas, including strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic and investment cooperation, advancing regional connectivity, and deepening our shared commitment to security and stability in Central Asia” he said on his Telegram page after his meeting with Marco Rubio.

“Appreciate United States’ strong support for the reform processes in Uzbekistan. We agreed to maintain the positive momentum in bilateral ties through continued high-level dialogue and practical cooperation under the Strategic Partnership Framework, he added.

The US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said that at the meeting, Marco Rubio had assured Uzbekistan of support for the country's independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

He welcomed Uzbekistan's decision to become a full member of the Global Coalition to Defeat ISIS.

Marco Rubio also thanked Uzbekistan "for its efforts to help return deported citizens from the United States."

"The United States stands ready to work with Uzbekistan to modernize safe nuclear energy technologies, expand investment between our countries, and advance cooperation in critical minerals and other sectors to further expand our strategic partnership," the State Department spokesperson underscored. 

During the talks in Washington, Bakhtiyor Saidov also met with the US National Security Advisor Michael Waltz.

“We discussed a wide range of regional and international issues, reaffirming our shared commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States. Our dialogue focused on strengthening security cooperation, economic progress, regional connectivity, and promoting sustainable development in Central Asia,” the Foreign Minister said.

He added: “We highly appreciate the US President’s continued support for Uzbekistan’s reform agenda and our joint efforts to ensure peace and prosperity in the region.”
