The president Mirziyoyev approved amendments introducing fines for illegal installation of rising arm barriers and blocking of streets Thursday with immediate effect, the Ministry of Justice said.
Article 147 of the Code of Administrative Offences has been supplemented with a provision on illegal installation of rising arm barriers and other devices that impede the movement of road users. The offence shall be punished with a fine of 5 basic calculation units (1.875 million soums) for individuals and 20 basic calculation units (7.5 million soums) for officials.
Earlier, the chair of the Senate Committee on Defense and Security Kutbidin Burkhanov said that the illegal installation of rising arm barriers negatively affects road safety.
According to him, individuals illegally erect arm barriers and other obstacles on the streets in their places of residence, block roads, restricting and impeding the movement of emergency rescue and special vehicles (such as ambulances and fire services).
