The Cabinet of Ministers issued a classified resolution on the restoration of the Sardoba reservoir in Syrdarya province, said the head of the Department for Coordination of the Activities of Design and Survey Organizations under the Ministry of Construction Nasrulla Boboyev.

“The current state of the facility is being checked for compliance with the initial design solutions. These studies are being carried out in order to prevent recurrence of the accident in the future,” said a spokesman for the ministry.
Design estimates for the reconstruction of the reservoir were developed by the design organization, according to which the restoration work will be done in two stages. Nasrullah Babayev noted that he could not name the construction timelines.
“The reason is determined by a classified resolution. The government has developed a schedule and identified responsible staff. The organizations of the relevant ministries and departments are doing their work according to the plan," he noted.
An official of the Ministry of Construction announced plans to eliminate cracks on the sides of the dam, which occurred after the burst, and to re-commission it. Thus, the resistance of the dam to water pressure, the filling capacity of the reservoir and the results of other scientific and technical studies will be studied.
“After receiving the conclusions and completing scientific and technical studies, the restoration of the dam will be carried out in two stages,” he said.
Nasrulla Boboyev added that not only local specialists are involved in scientific research, but also foreign research centers, since neighboring countries " are also concerned.
