The presidential security aides of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, as well as the military attaché of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Tashkent, discussed combating terrorism and extremism in Central Asia at a meeting in Samarkand, UzA said.
The event took place as part of Uzbekistan's chairmanship in the Central Asia Summit 2025.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev conveyed a welcoming address to the forum participants, which read that "the Central Asia is transforming into a region of strategic partnership based on the principles of good neighborliness, mutual trust and constructive dialogue."
During its chairmanship, Uzbekistan will promote the agenda of regional partnership, which focuses on strengthening global security, deepening trade and economic ties, strengthening transport connectivity, as well as jointly searching for sustainable solutions to pressing issues facing the countries.
The security aides discussed regional security, the ways to counter terrorism, extremism, radicalization and transnational organized crime, cooperation in the field of environmental security in the region, as well as ensuring transport security in Central Asia and developing transport and transit potential.
As part of the forum, they reviewed the draft Concept for Ensuring Regional Security and Stability, the idea of creating which was put forward by the President of Uzbekistan at the Central Asia Summit on August 9, 2024 in Astana.
