From June 1, Uzbekistan will relax procedure for obtaining a residence permit for a period of five years for foreign nationals and person without citizenships. This rule is enshrined in the presidential decree of April 18, the Ministry of Justice said.
To obtain the document, the applicant must pay 200 thousand US dollars, as well as 100 thousand dollars for each family member - spouse, children and parents.
A residence permit is an identity document of a person without citizenship or a foreign national, issued in confirmation of permission for permanent residence in the territory of Uzbekistan.
Today, residence permits in Uzbekistan are issued to certain categories of nationals:
- foreign nationals or person without citizenships permanently residing in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan - upon reaching the age of 16;
- persons who have received permission for permanent residence in Uzbekistan in the manner prescribed by the Regulation, including persons who have returned to the country whose citizenship of Uzbekistan has been terminated in accordance with the law;
- nationals of countries included in the List of countries whose nationals have the right to obtain a residence permit in Uzbekistan subject to the acquisition of real estate in: Tashkent province and Tashkent — for a sum equivalent to at least 300 thousand US dollars, Samarkand, Bukhara, Namangan, Andijan, Fergana and Khorezm provinces — for a sum equivalent to at least 200 thousand dollars, in Karakalpakstan and other provinces of the country — for a sum equivalent to at least 100 thousand dollars;
- persons permanently residing in the territory of Uzbekistan, but who have not accepted the citizenship of the country or whose citizenship of Uzbekistan has been terminated in accordance with the law..
Programs under which foreign nationals are granted a residence permit in exchange for significant investments in the country's economy operate in a number of foreign countries (for example, Portugal, Spain, the UAE). Their goal is to attract capital and wealthy foreign investors to the country.
