On February 26, 2025, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Uzbekistan Daniel Cristian Ciobanu visited the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.

The Ambassador Daniel Ciobanu gave a lecture on "Cultural and Public Diplomacy as an Integral Element of Diplomatic Relations" and then took questions from students. This event was dedicated to Brancusi Day (February 19), the birthday of the great Romanian sculptor Constantin Brancusi (February 19, 1876 - March 16, 1957) marked solemnly in Romania every year. In 2015, the Romanian Parliament declared February 19 the "Brâncusi Day" - a working holiday in Romania. Constantin Brancusi was a pioneer of modernism and one of the most influential sculptors of the 20th century, and was named the "patriarch of modern sculpture". In his remarks, the Ambassador noted the dynamic development of Romanian-Uzbek relations in all areas, including the culture. He informed the students in detail about the work of Constantin Brancusi, who created such famous works as "Endless Column", "Table of Silence", "Gate of the Kiss" and "Bird in Space".

Daniel Cristian Ciobanu emphasized the importance of an innovative approach in the field of public diplomacy. He underscored that in 2021, on the occasion of Uzbekistan’s 30th anniversary of the independence, he climbed to the top of Greater Chimgan (3,309 meters) and recorded a short video with congratulations. In 2022, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Uzbekistan, he climbed to the top of Hazrat Sultan (4,083 meters) in the Kashkadarya region and again recorded a short video in Uzbek with congratulations. In 2023, on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence, the Ambassador Daniel Ciobanu climbed the Pulatkhan plateau (2823 meters). In 2023, the Ambassador also took a hot air balloon flight (Samsarak-Parkent route) for 60 minutes at an altitude of 900 meters to celebrate 161 years of Romanian diplomacy in Uzbekistan.

The lecture was followed by the photo exhibition "The Works of the Great Romanian Sculptor Constantin Brancusi" at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy.
