Pakhtakor has confirmed that French Ligue 1 side Stade Brestois showed interest in defender Muhammadrasul Abdumajidov, but the Tashkent club rejected the move — and pushed back on media reports suggesting a formal transfer offer had been made.
According to Championat.asia, Brest sought a season-long loan with an option to buy, a structure often used by European clubs to trial talent from less-scouted leagues before committing to a permanent deal. Had it gone through, the transfer would have marked the first direct move from Uzbekistan's Super League to one of Europe's "big five" leagues.
In an official statement, however, Pakhtakor clarified that no offer letter was ever submitted to the club itself. Only the player's agent presented a letter reportedly from the French club, and the terms — a loan with a buy option — fell short of what Pakhtakor was willing to accept. The club added that Uzbekistan's domestic transfer window has already closed, limiting its ability to process any departure at this stage regardless of the offer's merits.
Pakhtakor said every player in its squad holds real value and that it remains open to strong offers through proper channels, but stressed it cannot afford to weaken its roster mid-season. The club is entering a critical stretch of the campaign, including its participation in the AFC Champions League Elite, and said its priority right now is strengthening the squad, not losing key players. Two central defenders already departed during the summer window, leaving little depth to absorb a further exit.
The club did not rule out revisiting the offer in the future, saying that had it arrived earlier, it might have received serious consideration — but that any renewed talks, including with Brest, would have to wait until the winter transfer window.
Abdumajidov, a 22-year old and 190-cm-tall defender, is a product of Pakhtakor's youth academy and has been a first-team regular since 2023, making 19 appearances and grabbing one assist so far this season. His contract runs through the end of 2027, and Transfermarkt values him at around 600,000 euros. For now, he remains in Tashkent, with any move to Europe on hold until at least January.
