A screening of the Romanian film “The Law School Gang” will take place at 6 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2026, at the Alisher Navoi Palace of National Cinematic Art of Uzbekistan (15 Navoi Avenue). The film was directed by Mihaela Anitei and written by Emanuel Parvu, and stars Tudor Cucu-Dumitrescu and Ileana Puiu. It was released in 2025. The event is jointly organized by the Embassy of Romania and the Delegation of the European Union, with support from the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan, as part of the 11th European Film Festival.

The film follows seven law students who face serious trials. It is a deeply felt story of solidarity, mutual support and true friendship tested by time.

The Embassy of Romania in Uzbekistan invites film lovers to the screening. Admission is free. The film will be shown in Romanian with Uzbek subtitles.

Uzbekistan is a highly valued partner of Romania in Central Asia, and bilateral cooperation has developed very successfully in recent years. Romania attaches great importance to building relations with Uzbekistan in all areas, including cinema. The Romanian Embassy, working with Uzbekistan’s Cinematography Agency, has twice organized Romanian Film Days in Tashkent. The first edition took place in 2022 and featured the feature film “Next to Me” (directed by Teddy Neculae) and the historical epic “The Dacians” (directed by Sergiu Nicolaescu). Director Neculae and actor Adrian Padurariu traveled to Tashkent for meetings with local film professionals. The second edition was held last year to mark the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Romania and Uzbekistan, with the films “Soldier Boy” (directed by Marian Crisan) and “Horia” (directed by Ana-Maria Comanescu). Both events are remembered as highlights of cultural cooperation between the two countries.

In 2023, at the 15th Tashkent International Film Festival, “Pearl of the Silk Road,” Romania was represented by two films: “The Father Who Moves Mountains” (directed by Daniel Sandu) and “Mikado” (directed by Emanuel Parvu). Romania also takes part every year in screenings marking Francophonie Days in Tashkent, where works shown between 2022 and 2025 included “Wild Romania,” “Wind Seeker,” “Maria, the Heart of Romania” and “Good Guys Go to Heaven.”

Last year, the Uzbek film “Abu Isa Muhammad al-Tirmidhi: The Scholar From Termez” was screened with great success in the Romanian cities of Bucharest and Techirghiol.
