The Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan has scrapped the requirement to display a “Radar” road sign where mobile radars are in use, according to a resolution dated Oct. 29.

Under the change, the sign must now be installed only ahead of fixed speed-monitoring radars. The road traffic rules have also been amended to require that it be placed no more than 500 meters and no less than 250 meters before the radar.

The stated aim of the amendments is to reduce traffic violations by improving the use of photo and video enforcement equipment.

The same document makes further changes. Failure to wear a seat belt will now also be recorded by cameras installed by entrepreneurs. Road traffic police inspectors will no longer record as a violation the crossing of a solid line within 50 meters before an intersection and 20 meters before a U-turn.

The sign requirement for mobile radars had been implemented on Sept. 1, 2025, under an earlier resolution on creating “additional conveniences for the public in using vehicles.”
