Snow has fallen in the Hisor State Nature Reserve Kashkadarya province, the National Committee for Ecology and Climate Change reported today.
According to the committee, a sharp drop in temperature was recorded across the reserve, which falls under the jurisdiction of the committee's Department of Protected Natural Areas. Snow blanketed the upper elevations of the reserve's Miraki and Ghelon sections, officials said.
Uzhydromet had earlier forecast partly cloudy conditions in mountainous areas on September 3 and 4, with rain expected in some locations. Average temperatures for September are expected to stay close to seasonal norms, while monthly precipitation across most of the country is projected to fall below average.
Established in 1983 the Hisor State Nature Reserve covers a total area of 80,986 hectares, of which 24,308 hectares are forested. Another 35,000 hectares consist of high mountains, cliffs, ravines and glaciers. The reserve is made up of four sections: Ghelon, Miraki, Tankhozdarya and Kizilsuv.
