President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today hosted the US Senator/ co-chair of the Senate’s Central Asia Caucus, Steve Daines.
At the start of the meeting, Daines congratulated Mirziyoyev and the people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country's independence, wishing peace, prosperity and continued progress.
The two sides discussed ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States and to expand interparliamentary cooperation. They noted that bilateral relations have reached new heights in recent years, with more frequent dialogue and exchanges of delegations between the two countries.
Particular attention was paid to expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, with both sides highlighting major joint projects underway in energy, critical minerals, transportation, agriculture, digital technology and industry.
The two also discussed prospects for deepening ties between their regions, including with Montana, the state Daines represents in the Senate. They further exchanged views on cooperation within the C5+1 format and on pressing issues of international and regional significance.
