President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan visited the grave site of Uzbekistan’s First President Islam Karimov, who passed away in September, in Samarkand.
Accompanied by the Interim President and Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President Erdoğan laid roses on Karimov’s grave at Hazrati Hizir Mosque in Samarkand. Interim President Mirziyoyev emphasized Islam Karimov’s significance to Uzbekistan’s independence and thanked President Erdoğan for his visit.
Following the visit, President Erdoğan and Interim President Mirziyoyev left the Hazrati Hizir Mosque to hold a tête-à-tête meeting.
