The State Security Service (DXX) of Uzbekistan arrested the first deputy mayor of Navbakhor district of Navoi province, Oybek Hayyrov red-handedly when he was taking a bribe.

Urgench airport, closed since 16 July for technical reasons, is expected to re-open on August 10, the acting Khorezm governor Farkhod Ermanov said in his Facebook page.

Over the past two and a half decades, Uzbekistan has undergone a steady demographic transition. Fertility levels and child mortality have reached low and steady levels. Starting from July 15, online registration of foreign citizens through the E-mehmon system (transl. e-guest) at www.emehmon.uz has launched in Uzbekistan. As reported earlier, by the May 29 Government’s decree, which took effect immediately, foreign nationals staying in Uzbekistan hotels, medical institutions and other residences shall no longer be held liable for violation of temporary registration rules.

Police officers in Boz district of Andijan province during night patrol detained young people who were walking in the streets after 22:00. As reported by one of the victims, a group of young people were heading home after playing football, when they were stopped by police patrol bus, who dragged all of them to the police department for identification. There, according to the victim, they were interrogated on why they were walking on the street late, Repost.uz reported.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev today signed a Measures to Develop Nuclear Power in Uzbekistan Decree creating UzAtom, the Uzbek Agency for Nuclear Energy under the Cabinet of Ministers. 

Shavkat Rakhmatov has been appointed as acting prosecutor of the Tashkent province, replacing Bakhodir Pulatov who became the governor of Surkhandarya province, the Prosecutor General's Office reported.
