President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting on Monday instructed the State Security Service (SSS) and the Prosecutor General's Office to probe into the activities of the sacked officials. In the event that a violation of the law is established, former officials will be held accountable.
Today, the Tashkent city mayor Jahongir Artykhodjaev, Deputy Minister of Energy Sherzod Khodjaev and the chief of Issiklik Electricty Stations Farhad Abdurakhmanov lost their seats.
It also became known that 192 facts of corruption were found in the oil and gas and energy sectors, and over the past month 5,000 illegal connections to electricity and 4,500 to natural gas were detected.
“Don’t mayors of districts, heads of electricity and gas supply enterprises know that there have been thefts in electric and gas networks?” the President said.
The head of state instructed the State Security Service and the Prosecutor General's Office to take tough measures against corrupt officials and begin an effective fight against corruption in the energy supply system.
