Before the meeting of the heads of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, during which the two leaders discussed the implementation of the previously set plans.

The newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the United States of America, Javlon Vakhabov today left Tashkent for New York, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Uzbek Senate at the 12th plenary meeting passed the Ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz State Border Bill. The agreement was signed in Bishkek on September 5.

The visiting UN Special Rapporteur on freedom of religion or belief Ahmed Shaheed today met with the Uzbek Interior Minister Pulat Bobodjonov and discussed issues of ensuring constitutional rights of freedom of religion of prisoners and persons in custody, the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
