Active phase of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project will begin in the near future. On August 18, Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov hosted the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China Du Dewen.

During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation with a special focus on trade, economic, transport and logistics areas.

The Kyrgyz PM emphasized the priority importance of the railway project for the Kyrgyz Republic.

“There is a significant leap forward in the implementation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project. We hope that the active phase of the project will commence soon,” he said.

Earlier on April 8, Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov. During the conversation, the parties discussed the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.

In October 2021, it became known that Kyrgyzstan, for its part, completed all design work for the railway project.

Last summer, experts said that Uzbekistan could receive up to $600 million from rail transit.

Later it became known that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway would begin in the fall.
