14th Summit of Women Speakers of Parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union member-states will be held in Tashkent on September 8-9, Dunyo reported.

The decision was reached during the 13th summit held in Vienna. The Senate chair Tanzila Norboeva briefed the summit participants about reforms in the field of gender equality in Uzbekistan.

Reportedly, at the summit, efforts aimed at increasing the political activity of women in Uzbekistan were highlighted.

The 14th summit, which is organized for the first time in Uzbekistan and the region as a whole, will be entitled "Leading role of Parliament: risk assessment in ensuring more effective stability and prosperity.

The main objective of the summit is to set priorities and actions for parliaments to ensure gender equality and empower women to effectively ensure stability and prosperity.

The summit will be attended by women leaders of the parliaments of the Inter-Parliamentary Union countries, MPs and women representatives from international organizations.

Justice, integration and environmental protection, women's reproductive health needs, post-pandemic economic recovery, protection and promotion of women's rights and freedoms on the Internet will be discussed within the summit.

It is planned to adopt the Tashkent declaration at the end of the summit.

The Inter-Parliamentary Union was founded in 1889 and is the oldest international organization. 178 countries are the members of the organization.
