The Ministry of Justice has developed a draft concept for a single e-platform for CIS for exchange of legal information, said Minister Ruslanbek Davletov, speaking on May 19 at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum, the Ministry of Justice said.

The initiative to create a platform for the exchange of information in the CIS space was made by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during the online summit of the heads of the Commonwealth countries in December 2020.

Ruslanbek Davletov specified that the draft concept has already been sent by the CIS executive committee to the governments of the member states of the commonwealth for consideration.

“The pandemic pointed out the weaknesses in the process of providing mutual international legal assistance and raised the question of the need to improve its mechanisms, in particular its digitalization,” the minister said.

According to the Minister, due to lockdown restrictions, the forwarding of paper correspondence by courier services was suspended, which led to the freezing of numerous requests from citizens for international legal assistance.

We believe that a single electronic platform will bring the exchange of legal information between the competent authorities to a qualitatively new level, added Ruslanbek Davletov.

The St. Petersburg International Legal Forum "Nine and Three Quarters: Vaccination by Law" is being held from 18 to 22 May online.
