Electric vehicles could get separate license plates in proposed draft resolution published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The discussion of the draft will run through April 11.
The resolution stipulates that the part of the license plate where the territory code is indicated (01 - Tashkent, 10 - Tashkent province, 20 - Syrdarya province, etc.) will be painted green.
The explanatory note to the draft says that in the future, EVs may get advantage when entering the central parts of cities, given their "complete environmental safety".
In addition, they are provided with reliefs and waivers during state registration, as well as undergoing technical inspection.
The draft proposed the issuance of new license plates to start on June 1, and before license plates of electric vehicle would be replaced for free.
As reported earlier that, 85 electric vehicles were imported to Uzbekistan in January and February, which is by 78 more than in the same period last year.
