Several Russian Telegram channels, followed by major media outlets, reported today the appearance of an "unidentified" Boeing 787 in Russian airspace, departing from Washington, D.C., and proceeding to the border with Kazakhstan.
Gazeta.Ru, citing a military expert, suggested that it was a "US Air Force aircraft" that "could have been delivering cargo to Kazakhstan." The story was accompanied by a photograph of the US Air Force aircraft.
The aircraft was carrying the President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who was returning from the US after attending the Board of Peace inaugural meeting.
After departing Andrews Air Force Base near Washington D.C. at 2:12 PM (12:12 AM Tashkent time), the plane flew over Canada, Greenland, European countries, Russia, and Kazakhstan, arriving in Tashkent at 12:14 PM (according to publicly available flight tracking data).
The Uzbek presidential press service announced the head of state's departure from the United States at 2:40 a.m. Tashkent time.
"It's been an incredibly long day, but even now, as the plane heads for Tashkent, work is in full swing on board," presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov wrote at 2:30 a.m.
"During the 12-hour flight, Air Force One will serve as a full-fledged airborne headquarters, where the head of state will continue to discuss the results of the visit with members of the delegation, hold a series of telephone conversations and videoconferences with heads of industry agencies and regions, and review plans for the near future," he noted.
This seems no coincidence. Could this be a subtle threat? Some countries increase jamming of GPS signals, which affects commercial aviation and maritime shipping as the means of hybrid warfare. Foreign Information manipulation and interference is used to smear leaders, fuel protests, and create doubt.
