On February 25, 2026, a minor, Doniyor Turgunov, while driving a car hit and killed a traffic police inspector, Khosilbek Eshnazarov in Tashkent’s Mirabad district. The inspector later died from serious injuries. According to the Prosecutor General's Office, Doniyor Turgunov was arrested as part of a criminal case.
Reportedly, Doniyor Turgunov is suspected of committing crimes under Hijacking a vehicle charge, punishable by imprisonment for a term from 5 to 10 years and the Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm charge, punishable by imprisonment for a term of 8 to 10 years of the Criminal Code.
By a court ruling dated February 28, a precautionary measure in the form of arrest was applied to the suspect Turgunov.
The Prosecutor General has been tasked to supervise the investigation.
