The Tashkent city mayor’s office announced the launch of the 90-Day Shock Working, aimed at implementing "a set of large-scale steps to improve the traffic situation" in the capital.

According to the office, the decision was made following a visit by the head of the Presidential Administration Saida Mirziyoyeva to the Tashkent Traffic Management Center (TMC) on February 26.

Reportedly, additional priorities were identified during the visit and specific goals were set to improve the efficiency of road infrastructure management.

TMC specialists identified 472 km of the capital's most congested streets, recommending that priority steps be implemented first.

Focus will be placed on the following areas:

  • development and deploying traffic management design solutions;
  • prioritization of public transport and creating infrastructure respective of that;
  • regulation and oversight of the installation of advertising structures and other media along the street and road network;
  • optimization and streamlining of existing retail outlets located along streets and roads;
  • installation, modernization, and upgrade of traffic lights and road signs;
  • improving road markings based on approved traffic management plans;
  • upgrading and replacing bus stops;
  • performing pothole and road repairs;
  • development and streamlining of parking spaces.

Reportedly, the team of the Tashkent Traffic Management Center and the Tashkent mayor’s office are confident that the implementation of these steps will positively impact the overall situation in the capital's road and transport system, and that residents and visitors will experience tangible changes.

The Tashkent Traffic Management Center has been set up by a presidential decree in December 2025 as a specialized structure aimed at systemically improving the capital's transport policy.
