The Attorney General's Office has examined the legality of the court ruling issued in the case of a husband and wife who offered a 13-year-old girl money for sex with the man, the press service of the Attorney General's Office said.
The man in the Andijan province sought to have sex with a 13-year-old girl, first offering her 50 thousand soums, then 100 thousand. The teen was brought to him by his wife. The spouses were tried under an administrative harassment charge. The husband was sentenced to five-day arrest, and the wife was fined 750 thousand soums.
The Attorney General's Office reportedly filed a protest with the judicial panel for criminal cases of the Supreme Court against court rulings of first and appellate instances.
Earlier, the anti-violence project Nemolchi.uz stated that attempts to have sex with minors, including for money, are regulated only by the Criminal Code. "Any sex with children under 14 is a particularly serious crime, which is considered immediately under the Rape charge of the Criminal Code. It does not matter whether the child was forced to do it, whether violence was used or not, Nemolchi said.
