MPs of the Legislative Chamber at its session on January 24 passed amendments to the Labor Code in the first reading, the press service of the Chamber said.
The amendments imply prohibition and prevention of labor-related harassment and violence, the provision of additional paid leave to victims of harassment and violence, as well as to men in connection with the birth of a child.
In particular, employers will be required to provide legal grounds for transferring an employee guilty of harassing another employee to another job or terminating an employment contract.
Such cases will be discussed in the ethics commission or with the participation of a representative of the organization's trade union.
Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nuriddin Ismoilov underscored that it is necessary to clearly spell out what is meant under harassment and violence in labor relations.
The bill provides for measures to protect the rights and interests of employees who have been subjected to harassment or violence. If an employee has become a victim of such behavior, he or she may be granted additional leave.
